"The FDA has strong authority to regulate cosmetics and suncreens on behalf of consumers. All cosmetics companies abide by strict federal safety requirements that mandate that products and ingredients, including those using small micro-fine particles, be substantiated for safety before going to market. Many factors are included in these safety evaluations, including the latest scientific information about the use of ingredients and manufacturing processes that use very small particles.

Certain sunscreen products utilize these ingredients because they provide a much broader UV protection that can help prevent sun damage. These sunscreen substances have been affirmed to be safe by the FDA and provide a very important and vital health benefit to consumers."
